It sounds like a fanboy's (and fangirl's) dream come true: JJ Abrams will direct the next installment of the "Star Wars" movie franchise, according to TheWrap.com.
That's right -- Star Wars, not Star Trek.
So much for Abrams' public declarations, made as recently as November, that he wasn't interested in the job.
The report is as yet unconfirmed, but the New York Times says an official announcement is expected soon. Entertainment Weekly says it has confirmed the report.
The movie's script will be written by "Little Miss Sunshine" screenwriter Michael Arndt. It is slated for release in 2015.
Assuming the report turns out to be true, those of us who were mocked for making the suggestion months ago ("He's doing Star Trek. No way he'll do Star Wars.") will get to say a gleeful "I told you so."
