Disney has released its "My Disney Experience" app for the iPhone and iPad.
The free app is intended to help make your trip to Walt Disney World a little easier, providing information and maps of the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom, as well as the two water parks, all the resorts, Disney's Boardwalk, Downtown Disney and EPSN Wild World of Sports Complex.
The drop-down menu for each park provides information on attractions, dining, entertainment, guest services, recreation and shopping.
In addition, if you log-in to the app you can get the Fast Pass return times and make dining reservations. You can set up an account or use the same e-mail and password you use for your disneyworld.com, abc.com or espn.com accounts.
You also can star and save your favorite attractions, restaurants and shops with the Wish List.
The new Disney app should allow you to make dining reservations with your phone, similar to how Open Table works. Plus, you get the official Fast Pass waiting times, rather than crowd-sourced estimates.
There are many similar unofficial apps out there, including WDW Lines by Touring Plans, WDW Maps, WDW, Undercover Toursit's Disney World, Mouse Wait, etc. Many of those apps do similar things. And some of them, including WDW Lines and Undercover Tourist, offer additional information and suggestions you won't get from the official Disney app. We'll take a closer look at many of these apps in the next few weeks and give you our suggestions for Must-Have Disney apps.
