A short ceremony is planned at 2:30 p.m. in Town Square in front of the Main Street Train Station to honor the date.

The once-small park has grown into a resort with two theme parks and three hotels employing some 22,000 people. It was re-named Disneyland Park in 1998 to distinguish it from the resort as a whole. More than 16 million people last year visited Disneyland Park itself, according to Themed Entertainment Association and the Economic. The only other park in the U.S. with more people attending was the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World.
