The tiger is the third-largest land carnivore behind the polar bear and the brown bear. It is even bigger than its closest relative, the lion.
The white and black stripes on tigers create unique patterns and help camouflage them in the long grasses where they would hunt. The patterns are distinct. Each tiger in the world has its own stripe pattern.

Where they live: A patchwork area in Asia from India to the Russian Far East.
Height and weight: They can grow up to 11 feet long and 670 pounds.
Life span: 20 to 26 years in the wild and captivity
What they eat: Tigers are predators and usually eat between 33 to 40 pounds of meat a day. In the wild feed on medium and larger animals in the wild such as wild board, water buffalo, gaur and chital.
Wild population: There is an estimated 5,100 to 7,600 tigers in wild and are listed as endangered on the IUCN Red List by the World Conservation Union.
Famous tigers in Disney movies: Shere Khan in "The Jungle Book" was the bad guy, due to the tragedy of what happened to his family he vowed to kill any human entering his jungle; Rajah is Jasmine's pet tiger in "Aladdin"; and the most famous of them all tigers is of course Tigger from "Winnie the Pooh," that's "T-I-double guh-errr, that spells Tigger."
