'The Avengers' on Blu-ray and DVD to be released Sept. 25

You won't have to wait that long to own "The Avengers" on Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, DVD, Digital and On-Demand. All will be released September 25.

The premium 4-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack will include a gag reel, interviews with the cast and director Joss Whedon, a behind-the-scenes look at the visual effects and cinematography, the creation of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Helicarrier, Soundgarden’s “Live to Rise” Music Video and deleted scenes.

And if you can't wait that long for the release, Marvel is planning to release “The Avengers Initiative: A Marvel Second Screen App” this month which will release special content building up to the home entertainment release, according to a news release by Marvel. The content will include "special access to the S.H.I.E.L.D. database, becoming a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, invitations to 'special missions' either remotely or in the field, links to character profiles, stories and scenes, interactive Marvel digital reader comic books and more," according to the news release.
